CAS74 ~ Celebration

Yippee 2 days in a row with cards. I know you are thinking, "it's about time." Life has really gotten in the way of my stamping lately. Then throw in all the camping, and I am in withdrawal. Well the new caddie is out, so I am determined to try and get back to stamping every day!!

This card is for the CAS challenge today on SCS. We were to draw inspiration from this beautiful Wedding Cake site, you can see it here. Talk about inspiration, WOW. You could get tons of inspiration for all your elegant cards -- go take a peek. I chose the cake that you can see here. I love the black, white, and red color combo. I changed mine to Vanilla, Black and Red but you get the gist.

This is a new Hostess Level 1 stamp set from the new caddie. You are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this flower, I do. I also used the new Newsprint DP. I think this paper is so versatile, but it's especially great for vintage cards. I sponged around my image and on the DP with Blush Blossom. I usually use Creamy Caramel to "distress" my cards, but I am liking the blush blossom. What do you think?

I'm Still Here

I have a few minutes this morning before I need to take Brandon to school, so I thought I would pop in here for a second.

Whew, it's been crazy around here. My shoulder is a little better -- I think, but I haven't really been able to create anything. Things have been so busy with the end of school, and then my sister had surgery last week. I am happy to report that she is doing fine -- no worries there. Then to top everything off, work has banned us from blurfing at all. I usually spend my lunch time surfing, and now I can't -- bummer. So once again I need to apologize for not returning emails. I haven't been online all week, and this morning I have 417 emails to go through -- oh boy.

On to my card. I created this for several challenges. The CAS challenge last week CAS67 -- Shabby Chick, and then the Queen for the Day QFTD08 -- yes I am behind. Alles's was the Queen that week. I CASED her card that you can see here. I think it was for the TLC challenge --To Frame it Up -- too, but I don't remember.

CAS64 ~ Happy Birthday Ms. Boo

Today's CAS challenge is to create a birthday card using orange. Yep you read that correctly -- ORANGE -- not my fav. Today is Jen's (aka Ms. Boo) birthday, and her favorite color is orange. Well orange can't be all that bad, 'cuz Jen is such a sweetie. So this one's for you Ms. Boo.

I do have to say that pumpkin pie is difficult to photograph. The white background kept turning grey-blue. I hope you can see this OK -- I took about 20 pictures, and this was the only one that was half way decent.

I think I saw something like this in one of my Paper Craft magazines, but I can't find the page. So this is probably a CASE, but I am not sure. I stamped the big flower and leaf outline from the Flower Fancy stamp set with pumpkin pie on pumpkin pie. I colored the center dots in with my white gel pen. I added one of my Earth Elements buttons to the sentiment. Never thought I would use the pumpkin ones -- so thanks to Jen for the challenge :o).

I masked off the bottom and the sun, sponged the colors, and then stamped the image and the sentiment. I added the brads, but I didn't add anything else 'cuz I wanted to keep it a CAS card.

I thought that the CAS challenge this morning was going to be an Easter card. So I cheated and created this card last night -- I know shame on me. Things have been so busy lately that I wanted to get a head start. Well wouldn't you know we are not creating Easter cards -- the challenge today was a sketch challenge. I guess God was letting me know that I am not supposed to do that :o).

The good thing is that this card qualifies for the Color Challenge on LPS. The colors this week are Kraft, Chocolate, and Yellow. I CASEd the card on page 43 of the Mini catalog. I used Barely Banana instead of the Bashful Blue. I changed the embossing folder and the background shape, but it is basically the same. Can you see that I colored the dots in the flowers chocolate and the dots around the flowers white? I'm not sure if the white dots are showing up very well, but they are IRL. I embossed the bunny on Kraft CS, in case you were wondering where my Kraft layer is.

Well here is my card for the CAS challenge. I wanted to redo my card from last week, so I guess this sketch was a good thing. I used Navy, Red and White. These are the colors for my oldest son's Wrestling team. I wanted to make cards for the boys for their banquet, and I thought these would be good for teen-age boys. What do you think? Should I take out the Kraft layer and only use white?

Here is my first card. I CASEd this one from Kristen's Gallery. I made a few changes. I added a white base layer, extra piercings, and ribbon. I changed the sentiment, removed the button, and substituted a puffy flower for the strawberry image.

CAS57 ~ A New & Different Shape-Abilities

Yesterday was one LONG day. It was County finals in Wrestling for my oldest. We left the house at 7:00 am and did not return home until 8:30 pm. Let me tell you something bleachers are HARD. My rear end still hurts!! Justin does not like me saying anything about him on my BLOG, but I am so proud of him!! I am pleased to announce that he did so well in Counties that he is going to the State Championship!! I guess that means my rear will be aching next Monday too.

Onto my card. I created another Real Estate card. This one is for today's CAS challenge on SCS. We were to create a card using 2 shapes. I used my Scallop Square die and my Butterfly embosslit.

This week has been so busy. My oldest has been having Wrestling practice every night to get ready for Counties. Then I have been taking Project Management Training at work, and they have been assigning about 2 hours of homework a night -- yes homework, oh boy. I can't wait until Friday!!

CC259 ~ Olympic Color Challenge

Brandon is sick, and I had a migraine so I think my mojo is GONE. I am not really wowed by this card, but it's nice. I will probably do another card, but I thought you might like to see this one.

I could not think of anything to create with these Olympic colors, so I decided to try another teen boy card. This DP originally started out with white circles with silver glitter. I took markers and colored in the circles, and you can still see the glitter. This made it so I was able to do Event Five (use all five Olympic colors) and one neutral, with the dessert option (metallic) too.

CAS55 ~ Makeover

Today's CAS (Clean & Simple) challenge is to makeover one of our cards. I chose to redo the second card that you can see here, (the first one is Brandon's). I need to make a few Teenage boy cards, and my boys have told me to use stars -- so that's what I am going to do :o).

I picked up $1 stamp set from Studio G, to make some "Rock Star" cards. I think these stamps are cute, but they are definitely not the quality of SU! I changed the color scheme and used the star punches instead of the heart punches. I used LeAnne's idea of stamping the background diagonally, which you can see here. The background is the Tiny Mosaic embossing folder.

Today's challenge on SCS is to use ribbon and a border punch. Whew, a challenge that is not very difficult.

I need more sympathy cards in my stash. When the time comes that I need one, my mojo seems to fly out the window, so I like to have a few on hand. I made this one really clean and simple. I picked the ribbon up at the store (mikey's), and I thought it would be good for a clean sympathy card. I don't know whether you can tell by the picture, but it has blue sparkly dots between the white pattern.

CAS54 ~~ Wishing for Spring

Once again the boys do not have school, it's President's Day. To top it off they are calling for another snow storm today. If they are off school again tomorrow, I might go CRAZY. We have had a fun time this past week, but it is time to get back to the normal schedule.

Brandon set his alarm for 5 am this morning, so he could create his CAS card for the week. Here is his card, and of course I haven't had a chance to do mine.

Today's CAS challenge is to create a card for Spring, so he started with the Shades of Spring DP. Brandon punched each of the squares with my 1-1/4" square punch (this made it really easy for him to line things up). He attached each square to a piece of whisper white CS, and then trimmed the edges (with a little help). See how he did the lined paper -- he has it going towards the middle (his idea). He used 2 different ribbons (I helped him with the bow). He wanted the celery button on there "to give it more color". He is definitely teaching me to look at things differently. I would have used a white button, never a celery button -- but his really works. He stamped the sentiment at the bottom. The new clear mounted stamps really make it easy to line things up.

Today's Featured Stamper is Laurie aka HamiltonGal! I know I say this every week, but Oh my her gallery is just stocked with fabulous cards!!

I am CASEing the Easter chick that she created (you can see it here). I plan on doing a card too, but I haven't had a chance yet. I saw these little chicks last year around Easter, and I never had a chance to create one. So, today is the day to try.

I changed the ribbon that she used, the way that she tied the ribbon, and the punches that she used for the feet and the hair.
